When it comes to my workout outfits, I’m admittedly not very adventurous; while I like a good matching set every now and then, I tend to stick to black leggings or bike shorts and a black workout tank. Basic, however, does not mean boring, and I feel like I’ve tested every workout tank on the market. The one I always return to is the Lululemon Cool Racerback Short Tank Top Nulu ($48), and it’s without question my favorite workout tank.
Here’s what I look for in a tank. I like a racerback style, and options with built-in bras are a no for me. I like the fabric to be lightweight but still hold me in, and it has to be able to withstand sweat. For all these reasons, the Lululemon tank is superior. First of all, it’s made with Nulu, which is the same fabric as the beloved Align leggings. It’s buttery soft, tight to the body without being constricting, and a supremely comfortable tank top. Plus, it can still get me through my toughest workouts, and even when drenched in sweat, it doesn’t cling to the body the way a cotton t-shirt might.
The other thing I love about this tank is the length. Previously, the Lululemon Cool Racerback Tank Top only came in a longer style, and it always bunched around my stomach. This length is perfect for high-waisted bottoms, and it keeps you fully covered without any extra fabric. As someone who doesn’t like to have their midriff showing all the time, this is the perfect cropped length for me, and it makes even the most basic look feel pulled together and sleek. It comes in six colors, and the black is my favorite, though I may or may not be eyeing the white as well. If you’re looking for a new workout tank, I can’t say enough good things about this Lululemon style.
