Strength workouts for over 40 women should include at least 2 leg focussed sessions a week and for over 40 fitness advanced women 3 times a weeks.

A good leg workout should be the foundation of your routine.

These are some of the exercises I use to build my legs.

• 5 x 10 back squats

Quads, glutes, hamstrings, calves

Functional exercise that promotes balance, endurance & fitness

• 4 x 10 curtsey lunges

Quads, glutes, toned outer and inner thighs

• 4 x Romanian deadlift

Glutes ham strings

• 4 x Dumbbell lying leg curls

Hamstrings

• 4 X 20 Walking lunges

Quads, glutes, hamstrings, calf muscles

Also good for balance endurance and fitness

If you can’t do these at first do split squats
