Is it even spooky season without a line-up of stellar celeb costumes?

It’s no secret that celebrities love to go all out for spooky season every year, and this past Halloween weekend was no different. Between the countless stars who got all dressed up to attend the buzziest parties in L.A. to those who shared their meticulously planned looks on social media, the celebrity Halloween costumes of 2023 did not disappoint.

Yet, while many big names sported looks that certainly lived up to the infamous Halloween hype, this year’s costume planning may have been a bit more of a challenge for some SAG-AFTRA members.

Due to the ongoing Hollywood strike, the union issued strict guidelines on what members should avoid dressing up as this Halloween, which essentially included all TV or movie characters from any major production company. Instead, the union suggested that members wear more generalized costumes, such as generic ghosts, witches and zombies. So, if you’ve been surprised to see much less Barbie pink from celebrities than you’ve expected, the strike can be one reason why.

Although many have seemingly abided by the rule, it appears that Megan Fox flouted the guideline with her costume. Over the weekend, the actress shared an Instagram post that showcased herself and fiancé Machine Gun Kelly dressed up as characters from the 2003 film, “Kill Bill.” Not only were the costumes inspired by struck content, but Fox also tagged SAG-AFTRA in the post’s caption, making it clear that her and Kelly’s looks were a protest of the guideline.

Despite the challenges, many other celebrities made the best of the occasion. And the best part? This year’s festivities are far from over.

As October 31 is still just around the corner, we expect to see more stylishly spooky looks fill our social media feeds within the next few days. We’ll be keeping an extra special eye out for Heidi Klum, the self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Halloween,’ as she teased her “gigantic” upcoming costume on a recent “Tonight Show” appearance and through an Instagram post.

Megan Thee Stallion

The rapper dressed up as a flower from the 2010 live-action reimagining of Alice in Wonderland for a Tim Burton-themed Halloween party she threw.

Hailey and Justin Bieber

The duo opted for a matching couple’s costume as they went as Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble while attending Vas J. Morgan and Michael Braun’s party in L.A.

Demi Lovato

The singer attended Vas J. Morgan and Michael Braun’s party in a glamorous Snow White costume.

Keke Palmer

In one of two Halloween looks she posted over the weekend, Palmer dressed up as the Bride of Frankenstein while her son “gave her life” as the Doctor.

Halsey

Halsey went all out with her siren costume for Vas J. Morgan and Michael Braun’s party.

Ice Spice

The star went for a Betty Boop costume as she celebrated spooky season.

Kourtney Kardashian

The oldest Kardashian sibling showed off a super creative maternity costume as she recreated her sister Kim’s 2013 Met Gala look.

The model went for a very sophisticated Halloween costume as she dressed up as Marilyn Monroe.

The celebrity couple attended Kaia’s parents’ annual Casamigos Halloween party in classic Edie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol costumes.

As a long-time friend of Spears, Hilton paid tribute to the pop star by recreating her flight attendant look from the 2003 “Toxic” music video. The businesswoman also got her whole family involved with the costume as they dressed up as the rest of her “cabin crew.” So cute!

Zara Larsson

The Swedish singer also dressed up as Spears’ iconic flight attendant costume.

Jessica Alba and Kelly Sawyer Patricof

The duo honoured Spears at the Casamigos party too. Alba sported the nude, sparkly jumpsuit from the “Toxic” music video while Sawyer Patricof opted for the singer’s iconic schoolgirl outfit from the 1998 “…Baby One More Time” music video.
